About

Designed for Neurosurgery and Neurology Residents, Fellows, and Early-Career neuromodulators, the Neuro Lab combines expert-led instruction with hands-on cadaver training focused on the clinical application of neuromodulation. Topics include deep brain stimulation, stereoelectroencephalography, responsive neurostimulation, vagus nerve stimulation, targeted drug delivery, and MR-guided focused ultrasound.

    Dr. Luyuan Li is a board-eligible physician specializing in functional neurological surgery, spine surgery and general neurosurgery. Dr. Li earned his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed his neurosurgery residency at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, and his functional neurosurgery fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

    His clinical interests include asleep and awake deep brain stimulation, facial pain, epilepsy surgery, spinal cord stimulation, focused ultrasound treatment, and minimally-invasive brain tumor surgery.

    Abigail Rao, MD

    stereotactic and functional neurosurgeon

    Dr. Rao is a board-certified stereotactic and functional neurosurgeon, practicing at Norton Neuroscience Institute, a part of Norton Healthcare, in Louisville, KY. She completed her neurosurgery residency at OHSU and functional neurosurgery fellowship at UCLA. Her practice includes neurosurgery for chronic pain, facial pain, movement disorders, and epilepsy. She is honored to serve as pre-meeting course co-director of the NANS Residents and Fellows Course.
