About
Developed in collaboration with the North American Neuromodulation Society, this full-day immersive course is designed for Advanced Practice Providers in pain management and neurosurgery seeking practical, up-to-date training in neuromodulation. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of contemporary neuromodulation therapies. Through lectures, case-based learning, and interactive discussion, APPs will strengthen skills in patient selection, preoperative optimization, basic programming, postoperative management, and device troubleshooting. Emphasis is placed on evidence-informed practice, real-world clinical decision-making, and navigating rapidly evolving neuromodulation technologies within multidisciplinary pain care.

Kristen Durkin, RN, AGNP-C is the lead nurse practitioner at the NY Spine & Pain Specialists in
Port Jefferson, NY. Here she treats patients with various pain conditions, providing the most
cutting-edge and minimally invasive therapies. Kristen earned her Bachelor of Science in
Nursing from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. She then went on to earn her Master
of Nursing from Stony Brook University, with a certificate in Adult Gerontology. Prior to obtaining
her Nurse Practitioner degree, Kristen was an RN and later an NP in the surgical critical care
and trauma unit at Stony Brook Hospital for ten years. Currently, she is part of various societies
including the NANS APP Committee, ASPN, Business of Pain, as well as is an APP course
director for the NYNJSIPP Congress. Kristen provides presentations and
training on pain management, patient identification, and various interventional procedures. She
loves educating, writing, and networking with other advanced practice providers around the
country.
